Interim Manager

Dear Goodwine Coop Members and Patrons,

We, the Board of Directors, met on Monday, January 16th, for our standard monthly meeting. During this meeting, much conversation was had regarding the long-term plan of the Cooperative. However, the focus of the meeting was on a short term, temporary plan to help bridge the gap from March 1st until the details of a long-term, permanent plan can be worked out in full.

The next day, Tuesday, January 17th, we met to finalize this temporary plan. The meeting concluded with the hiring of former General Manager Jim Knake, as Interim Manager! We are certain that Jim will bring the same humble confidence and stability to this transition period that he brought during his successful career.

As stated in previous communications, we sincerely appreciate your loyalty and the trust you place in our Cooperative. As we continue to discuss the future, we want to ensure you that our plans include a fully operational grain elevator in this part of the county so that we can continue to serve you throughout the year but especially at harvest. If you have any questions or concerns, do not hesitate to reach out to a board member.

Transition Update

Dear Goodwine Coop Members and Patrons,

We, the Board of Directors, want to ensure that we keep you, a valued member of the Cooperative, up to speed with our plans as we transition into the next phase of this long-standing, successful organization. We met on Monday, December 19th and discussed “next steps” and at this time, we will actively begin seeking qualified candidates to fill the role of General Manager.

Currently, we feel that it would be a disservice to you, to not take a hard look at the big picture of the future of the grain industry and how we, as a Cooperative, fit in that picture. A steering committee, consisting of former board President, Bruce Crist, former board member, Doug Walder, former General Manager Jim Knake, and current Board Member Doug Van Hoveln, has been tasked with looking at all avenues which would provide you, the members and patrons that make up this Cooperative, the most value.

We genuinely appreciate your continued patronage of the Cooperative. Your Board is committed to ensuring that you will continue to receive the service and opportunities you have come to expect over the years. If you have any additional questions or we may be of service to you, please feel free to contact a member of the Board of Directors.

Transition

Dear Goodwine Coop Members and Patrons,

Goodwine Coop will have a change of management in 2023. Our current General Manager, Michael Kaeb, has accepted a new position effective March 1, 2023. Michael will assume responsibilities as a member of the Merchandising Development Team at White Commercial Corporation, a firm that provides the resources, training and support necessary to help grain elevators and their teams excel in key areas of their business.

We will begin taking steps in a transitional plan that will continue the success Goodwine Coop has built during our 133-year history. Michael will remain at Goodwine Coop at this time to help with the transition. Please direct any questions relating to the leadership change to the Board of Directors. We thank Michael for his service to the cooperative and wish him the best with his new opportunity.
